Before I Knew the Word Cottagecore

Long before I knew the word "cottagecore," I knew my mother's home.

Lois filled every room with warmth and purpose. Her kitchen was lined with baskets, well-used pans, painted cupboards, and the scent of something simmering. The dining room felt like the heart of the house, gathered around a sturdy wooden table beneath old-fashioned lamps. In the living room, books climbed the walls, family photographs filled the shelves, and the woodstove made even the coldest day feel welcoming.

Nothing in her home was arranged to follow a trend. It simply reflected the way she lived. She valued handmade, useful, well-loved things that connected to the land.

Outside, she grew her herbs and turned her love for them into Berry Hill Herb Gardens. What began in her garden became so popular that tour bus routes once listed her business on their maps. Visitors came to buy her herbs, but I suspect they also came for the feeling she created. Her home and garden offered a slower, more thoughtful way of life, one shaped by seasons, hard work, beauty, and care.

That is where my interest in cottagecore living began. It wasn't online or in a magazine, but at my mother's table, in her kitchen, beside her garden, watching her make a life that was both practical and beautiful.

Lois did not call it cottagecore. She simply called it home.

That spirit is what I hope to bring to every item in this shop.

The Cottagecore Shop wishes you a cozy and joyful cottagecore life.
